Tilburg, North Brabant Drone merchants, self-branded as "Croakers Of Doom", assimilated during 2001. The opening quartet was credited as keyboard player F21 (FXXI) "fx", bassist / vocalist K03 (KIII) "drones and lamentations", bassist / vocalist M07 (MVII - M. Tinnemans) "drones and deathshrieks" and percussionist T13 (TXIII a.k.a. T. Van Geel) "battery". 

First product was a single track 2002 demo 'Dopemoon'. The 23 minute 'Bludgeon' followed in 2003, as did the 'Devolve' rehearsal session. August 2004 saw Deserted Factory releasing the full-length album 'Bludgeon', actually a single track with a duration over one hour.  In October Catacomb Music issued 'Church Of The Flagellation', a four way split cassette, limited to 300 copies, shared with MALASANGRE, STABAT MATER and THE SAD SUN. BUNKUR's November 2004 double vinyl album version of 'Bludgeon', released by From Beyond Productions and restricted to 999 copies, included a cover version of BURZUM's 'Erblicket die Töchter des Firmaments'.That same month Foreshadow Productions included the BURZUM rendition on a split 7" vinyl single in alliance with MOSS.

BUNKUR signed with Displeased Records for the 2008 album 'Nullify'. Line-up changes for these recordings witnessed the addition of the PENTACLE, ASPHYX and SOULBURN credited Wannes Gubbels on bass and guest vocals courtesy of the much travelled Martin Van Drunen, from COMECON, SUBMISSION, MORTUARY I.O.D., DEATH BY DAWN, PESTILENCE, ASPHYX, HAIL OF BULLETS and BOLT THROWER.

In 2009 Manuel Tinnemans joined forces with guitarist Vidar Ermesjø, of HJARNIDAUDI, singer Niklas Kvarforth of SHINING, and drummer Ries Doms, from HOOGHWATER, to forge ODESSA. BUNKUR returned that September with the 78 minute, single track monolith 'Nullify'.
