Biography

Formed in Tilburg during 1989 by the vocalist / bassist Corinne van der Brand with guitarists Richard Schouten and Jos van der Brand and drummer Vincent, this Dutch Black Metal outfit soon added drummer Roeland to the cause. The 'Prologue' demo was cut in 1990. The drum position would switch once again with the recruitment of Serge Smolders, Roeland eventually going on to GREEN LIZARD, and by the end of 1990 could be found opening for CARCASS, followed by gigs with MORBID ANGEL, DEATH and SODOM. In January 1991 the demo 'Dehumanized' was delivered, alongside an officially sanctioned live cassette.

The American independent label Seraphic Decay issued ACROSTICHON tracks as part of a multi-band split album in 1991, the group donating four tracks and sharing vinyl with MINCH, DISGRACE, GOREAPHOBIA, TOXAEMIA and ABHORRENCE.

Seraphic Decay duly signed the quartet, although the group's debut album, 'Engraved In Black' issued in 1993, was produced by Colin Richardson against their will. ACROSTICHON, now with Michel Meeuwissen having usurped Schouten, signed to the Double Noise label for the 1995 album 'Sentenced. In 1998 Jos van der Brand, Michel Meeuwissen and drummer Serge Smolders founded Thrash act OUTBURST issuing the demo 'Victory For A Soul'. In 2003 Jos van den Brand temporarily joined the ranks of THE MONOLITH DEATHCULT for live work. The guitarist would also score credits with MASTER.
