A guitarist extraordinaire Venice born ALEX MASI has worked with various big names, including W.A.S.P. and QUIET RIOT man Frankie Banali, TALISMAN's Jeff Scott Soto, BADLANDS vocalist RAY GILLEN and WHITESNAKE's Rudy Sarzo amongst others in a career that has also found the man a string of solo work.

Masi's career in Rock began with RUINS before a relocation to England where he became part of a London club band. Returning to Italy, Masi created DARK LORD achieving success in Europe. Signing with Metal Blade records as a solo artist, Masi relocated to America and swiftly joined, up until then all black, Rock outfit SOUNDBARRIER. Slowly but surely SOUNDBARRIER metamorphasised into Masi's own band, simply billed as MASI, as various members departed.

In the late 80s Alex also played with assorted members of KING KOBRAand QUIET RIOT in the BLACK ROSES band, created for the soundtrack of the horror movie of the same name, the album being released through Metal Blade. The band line-up for MASI's debut for Metal Blade, 'Fire In The Rain', released in Europe through Roadrunner, was Masi, SOUNDBARRIER vocalist Bernie K., bassist Chris Marxx and SOUNDBARRIER drummer Dave Brown.

Masi's band for the 'Downtown Dreamers' album in 1988 comprised former VALHALLA and HAWK vocalist David Fefolt, bassist Claus Wildt and drummer Jonathon McKeighan. MASI has continued to work with a varying number of different musicians. His 1995 album, 'Tales From The North', for example saw Masi leading a band featuring ex-GEEZER BUTLER BAND, ANIMAL and BIRD OF PREY vocalist Kyle Michaels, bassist Tim McCardell and drummer Mike Wright.

1997's 'The Watcher' found Masi employing Michaels and McCardell once more. The album included versions of URIAH HEEP's 'Easy Livin' and STEVIE WONDERS 'Living For The City'. Masi has also worked on numerous movie soundtracks such as 'Demons III', 'Blue Comedy Café', 'Bedside Manners' and 'Black Roses'.

Masi subsequently worked with ex-DREAM THEATER keyboard player Derek Sherinan and LARS ERIC MATTSON on CONDITION RED. The guitarist, retaining the services of Kyle Michaels, would announce a union with Chavis Records in early 2002, a subsequent album 'Eternal Struggle' featuring a cover version of FOREIGNER's 'Blue Monday, Blue Day'. As a solo artist, ALEX MASI issued the 2003 album 'In The Name Of Mozart'.

The following year the guitarist collaborated on the MCM project, an alliance with RANDY COVEN and the YNGWIE MALMSTEEN credited drummer John Macaluso. The Finnish Lion Music label issued the 'Ritual Factory' album in 2004.

During 2005 the guitarist recorded tracks for VERTIGO, the band unit assembled by former TOTO man Joseph Williams. An October 2006 ALEX MASI album, 'Late Night At Desert Rimrock', featured drummer John Macaluso.
