THE CAGE

Members

    Biography

Originally titled THE CAGE this union of ex-ALLIANCE and BLACK SABBATH vocalist TONY MARTIN and Italian CROSSBONES guitarist Dario Mollo resulted in a classy debut album of hard, melodic Metal. The pair had met when Martin had laid down lead vocals for the 1998 GIUNTINI PROJECT sophomore album, Mollo acting as studio engineer on that project. To avoid confusion with another act of the same name the band switched titles to DARIO MOLLO / TONY MARTIN.

Veteran ex-RAINBOW keyboard player DON AIREY joined them for this record which was produced by Kit Woolven. The rhythm section is courtesy of CROSSBONES members Fulvio Gaslini on bass and Ezio Secomandi on drums with keyboards courtesy of Elio Maugeri. 'Stormbringer' is a cover of the DEEP PURPLE track. Subsequently Mollo worked with another ex-BLACK SABBATH man, GLENN HUGHES, for his VOODOO HILL project.

To close out 2001 Mollo joined forces once more with DON AIREY and ex-RAINBOW vocalist GRAHAM BONNET for a series of British club gigs. A second DARIO MOLLO / TONY MARTIN album 'Cage II' was set to arrive in May of 2002. Confusingly though this album was still being credited to THE CAGE.

By mid 2001 Martin, alongside his former BLACK SABBATH colleague bassist Neil Murray, had joined American act RONDINELLI, led incidentally by another erstwhile BLACK SABBATH man drummer Bobby Rondinelli. Martin would also involve himself with BAILEY'S COMET, acting as frontman for a batch of 2002 British club dates.

Dario Mollo's new project ELEKTRIC ZOO, convened in early 2004, saw the esteemed personage of GRAHAM BONNET taking the microphone once again.
