Biography

SEPTIC FLESH describe themselves as "Dreamy Emotional Death" and the band first made their mark with the track 'Melting Brains', which appeared on numerous compilation albums. In early 1991 this was capitalized on by the 5 track demo 'Forgotten Path'. The tape sold well, shifting 800 copies. Their debut vinyl came in the form of the mini album 'Temple Of The Lost Race', which surfaced in early 1992. A further demo, this time highlighting their talents on the solitary track 'Morpheus-The Dream Lord' secured a deal with Holy Records.

Sotiris teamed up with Gunnar Theys of ANCIENT RITES and the industrious Magus Wampyr Daoloth of NECROMANTIA to forge the DANSE MACABRE project but bowed out before completion.

SEPTIC FLESH's 1998 release 'A Fallen Temple' found the band re-recording their debut effort and adding new songs. The band subsequently toured Europe as headliner in the spring of 1999 on the 'Temple Of Humiliations' dates with support from MISANTHROPE and NATRON.

Chris Antoniou, in union with Natalie Rassoulis who had contributed vocals to the last two records, issued a self titled side project album CHAOSTAR in 2000. All the members of SEPTIC FLESH contributed and it would soon be learned that CHAOSTAR had in reportedly completely superseded SEPTIC FLESH. A further 2000 release, 'Forgotten Paths', is a collection of early demos.

However, SEPTIC FLESH would make a return, announcing a 2002 album 'Sumerian Daemons'. Live promotion was to include an October run of Polish gigs in union with with VOMITORY and MALEVOLENT CREATION as well as European dates the following month in league with DISMEMBER, SINISTER and THYRFING. Embarking upon a mammoth string of further European shows throughout October and November of 2002 the band created part of a deadly union for the 'Generation Armageddon' festival tour. Joining the band would be Norway's BLOOD RED THRONE, Ireland's PRIMORDIAL, Belgium's ANCIENT RITES, and Swedish heavyweights DISMEMBER and IMPIOUS.

Spiros Antoniou also involves himself in the THOU ART LORD side concern. Manning the drums for these 2002 concerts would be Fotis Bernardo of NIGHTRAGE.

Major line up changes in January of 2003 saw SEPTIC FLESH severing ties with keyboard player George Z and drummer Akis. The erstwhile CASUS BELI members Bob Katsionis and the INNER WISH credited Fotis Giannakopoulos took these respective positions. The band also inducted a new touring guitarist in ENSEMBLE man Alex Haritakis. The 'Generation Armageddon' title would be used once more for a second leg of European shows in May of 2003, the band forming a live alliance with PRIMORDIAL, THYRFING, ANCIENT RITES, BLOOD RED THRONE and SKYFIRE.

The Russian Irond label began a series of SEPTIC FLESH licensed releases throughout 2003. Included would be a unique version of 'The Eldest Cosmonaut' EP with added tracks from the 1991 12" single ''Temple Of The Lost Race'.

SEPTIC FLESH manager George Zacharopoulos announced the band had decided to call it quits in November of 2003. SEPTIC FLESH drummer Fotis Bernardo joined the Greek / Swedish act NIGHTRAGE in 2004. Two SEPTIC FLESH members, Bob Katsionis and Fotis Giannakopoulos featured on guitar virtuoso Overlord's 2005 PERPETUAL album. In early 2005 it was revealed that Spiros Antoniou, Chris Antoniou and drummer Fotis Bernardo had forged a new venture billed as THE DEVILWORX.
