Biography

Longstanding BLIND GUARDIAN drummer Thomas Stauch opted out of the leading German epic Metal band in April 2005. Soon afterward, the drummer revealed he had teamed up with PERSUADER members vocalist / guitarist Jens Karlsson and lead guitarist Emil Norberg in a new project entitled SAVAGE CIRCUS. The concept had been initiated in May 2004 when producer and IRON SAVIOR frontman Piet Sielck suggested some demos cut by Stauch were similar in to the PERSUADER material. Initial demos, with Sielck handling bass guitar, were cut at Powerhouse Studios in Hamburg during August. SAVAGE CIRCUS signed to Sielck's label Dockyard 1 and commenced album recordings in February 2005 at Karo Studios. 'Dreamland Manor' would be scheduled for September. Japanese editions, released by the Avalon Marquee label, hosted an exclusive extra track in a cover version of PLASTIC BERTRAND's Pop hit 'Ça Plane Pour Moi'.

SAVAGE CIRCUS announced their live debut for April 2006 at Planet Music in Vienna, Austria. In March the band lent support to EDGUY in Japan. The band had the tracks 'II - The Gathering' and 'Between The Devil And The Seas' included on the 'ProgPower USA VIII' DVD compilation in 2007.

Thomen Stauch returned to SAVAGE CIRCUS in 2007, re-commencing live duties in February with the House of Metal festival in Umeå, Sweden. The following month saw the issue of the 'Live In Atlanta' DVD, filmed at their ProgPower USA VII show. European live dates aligned with CIRCLE II CIRCLE and TOMORROW'S EVE commenced in April. However, the band withdrew from these shows mid-tour.
