RPWL, named after the band members initials, was founded in 1997 as a PINK FLOYD cover band. The trio of vocalist / keyboard player Jürgen Lang, guitarist Karlheinz Wallner and bassist Chris Postl had all previously held membership with VIOLET DISTRICT. Drums would be handled by Phil Paul Risettion.

The 2005 album 'World Through My Eyes ' saw a guesting RAY WILSON on the track 'Roses'. By this juncture the band unit had evolved to comprise Lang, Wallner, bassist Stephan Ebner and drummer Manfred Müller. European touring in March saw AMBER LIGHT as support act before RPWL then acted as guests to ARENA.
