70's AOR Rock band led by drummer Dicky Tarrach, previously with Pop act THE RATTLES. In 1972 Tarrach, along with his erstwhile colleagues from THE RATTLES guitarist Herbert Hildebrandt, keyboard player Bernd Schulz and drummer bassist Klaus Georg Meyer created RANDY, PIE & FAMILY. This act cut two singles for Atlantic Records before folding.

Tarrach then forged RANDY PIE with ex-PETARDS vocalist / guitarist Bernd Wippich, former GASH bassist Manfred Thies and ex STUDIKER keyboard player Werner Becker for the self titled debut album of 1973. A British tour of 1974 saw the addition of erstwhile IKARUS guitarist Jochen Petersen. The band's second album 'Highway Driver', originally to be titled 'Sophisticated' but overruled by the record company, emerged the same year. Jean Jacques Kravetz, previously with FRUMPY, took the keyboard role for 1975's 'Kitsch'.

The band's live album 'England, England', although entirely recorded in Germany, kept up the progress. However, during 1977 RANDY PIE split and Tarrach was left holding the proverbial baby. He regrouped adding former LEAFHOUND, ATOMIC ROOSTER and CACTUS singer PETER FRENCH and Frank Diez on guitar. The latter having innumerable credits with the likes of ATLANTIS, ARMAGEDDON, EMERGENCY and KATHARGO. This version of the band recorded 1977's 'Fast Forward' album.

Kravetz joined former BIRTH CONTROL guitarist Dirk Steffans to form TOLLHOUSE in 1978. Tarrach created TARRACO in 1985 for the 'Big Bang' album working with ex GRAND PRIX and OPERATOR keyboard player Phil Lanzon.
