POWERWORLD was founded in September 2005 by ex-FREEDOM CALL bassist Ilker Ersin. Guitars are handled by ex-MINATON and JUSTICE man 'Warthy' (a.k.a. Jörg Wartmann) and on drums would be Rami Ali from JUSTICE, EVIDENCE ONE and FRONTLINE. Initially the project employed the services of singer Chity Somapala, a veteran of acts such as FIREWIND, AVALON, MOONLIGHT AGONY and FARO, but then severed ties in January 2006 citing the traditional "musical differences".

In March 2006 Somapala announced the formation of a new "atmospheric, bone-crushing power metal" band called CIVILIZATION ONE. Here he would be joined by an international roster of players comprising guitarist Aldo Lanobile of SECRET SPHERE, bassist Pierre-Emmanuel Pélisson of HEAVENLY and MALADAPTIVE, the SHADRANE and LALU credited Vivian Lalu on keyboards plus Luca Cartasegna, from MORTUARY DRAPE and SECRET SPHERE on drums.

April saw the addition of new singer Steffen Brunner, previously with BACKBONE. POWERWORLD announced a revised roster of musicians to record their debut, with Ersin and Brunner now being joined by Barish Kepic of JADED HEART on guitar, Nils Neumann of FREEDOM CALL on keyboards and Jürgen Lucas of JADED HEART on drums.
