Biography

DIE KRUPPS 1981 single 'Wahre Arbeit Wahrer Lohn', originally released through the Zick Zack label, saw a re-issue the following year on WEA with new cover art. In 1992 DIE KRUPPS united with Thrash Metal exponents ACCU§ER to forge the 'Metal Machine Music' album. ACCU§ER's Frank Thoms would take on lead vocal and guitar duties for the experiment. Also contributing would be fellow ACCU§ER guitarist René Schütz and drummer Volker Borchert. The latter would stay the course acting as DIE KRUPPS live drummer and also appearing on the '1' album.

Us versions of DIE KRUPPS July 1995 album 'III: Odyssey Of The Mind', on the Cleopatra label, included a number of notable remixes including 'Odyssey Of The Mind', given treatment by no less than Andrew Eldritch from THE SISTERS OF MERCY and 'The Final Option', a version courtesy of KILLING JOKE's Paul Raven. The album came in various formats via Music For Nations in the UK, including with a 3D cover and metal box package. Another 1995 album, 'Rings Of Steel', saw a wealth of collaborations such as with BIOHAZARD on the track 'Bloodsuckers', a CLAWFINGER remix of 'To The Hilt', a JIM MARTIN mix of 'Crossfire', a Andrew Eldritch/Rodney Orpheus rework of 'Fatherland' and DIE ÄRZTE's rendition of 'Bloodsuckers'.

Jürgen Engler founded a solo project DKAY.COM after relocating to Austin, Texas, issuing the debut album 'Decaydenz' during 2000. DIE KRUPPS reunited in 2005 for a 25th anniversary tour taking in Russia, Sweden, Estonia, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
