Knittel would found the Death Metal project MY DARKEST HATE during 1998 after locating AZMODAN vocalist René Pfeiffer, soon debuting with the demo tape 'Blood Pounding Black', recorded at at Dark Phobia Studio, Pforzheim that April. MY DARKEST HATE debuted commercially with the 'Massive Brutality' album. Recorded in October of 2000 at House of Music Studios in Winterbach, the record was issued in April of the following year by Vile Music.
The band signed to the Massacre label for a 2002 Achim Köhler produced album 'To Whom It May Concern', covering the EXODUS classic 'Brain Dead' for this release. The band had undergone a line up change for these recordings, René Pfeiffer having exited due to suffering from a tinitus disease and being replaced by erstwhile DISINFECT and PALE singer Chris Simper and bassist Oliver Schort from MALICE IN WONDERLAND.
MY DARKEST HATE returned in May of 2004 with the Köhler produced 'At War'. The album would be promoted by a promotional video for the track 'Catch The Bullet'. The initial pressing of the album came complete with a DVD of the band's 'Party.San Open Air' festival performance. A 12th June release party show at Kuckucksei in Nürtingen saw CASKET and STERBEHILFE as warm up acts.
MY DARKEST HATE recorded a cover of BATHORY's 'Born For Burning' for a tribute album entitled 'A Tribute From The Hordes To Bathory' released by Black Goat Productions.
In February of 2005 it was announced that Klaus Sperling had also joined the ranks of MYSTIC PROPHECY. A benefit appearance saw the band performing at the 4th March 'Rock For One World' event in Esslingen alongside PRIMAL FEAR, Matt Sinner's recently resurrected SHIVA, Thrashers RUNAMOK, BASTARDS- a MOTȪRHEAD cover band with Klaus Sperling and CHINCHILLA members, WHO KNOWS, with former TYRAN PACE members and KAMINARI.
In October the band Stage One Studios in Borgentreich with producer Andy Classen to cut the album 'Combat Area', finalizing tracks in early December. March 2006 witnessed a significant line-up shift as the group parted ways with singer Chris Simper and bassist Oliver Schort, swiftly replacing them with Claudio Enzler of SACRIFICIUM on vocals and Alexander Palma from LANFEAR and LUNA FIELD on bass.
Klaus Sperling joined SINNER in May for the album 'Masks Of Sanity'.
In February 2007 MY DARKEST HATE parted ways with bassist Alexander Palma due to time honoured "musical differences." Replacing him in the group's line-up would be Andreas Siegl, of BLACK ABYSS and PARADOX.
