Both singer Claus Lessman and guitarist Hans Ziller were previously band mates in CACUMEN and the highly succesful BONFIRE, although Ziller had parted company with the group prior to the band's split. Splitting from BONFIRE in 1992 Lessman renewed his partnership with Ziller, then a member of EZ LIVIN', to found the LESSMAN / ZILLER project. The pair recorded a successful German language album, 'Wach Auf', in 1993. The album sees session appearances from bassist Pino Paladino, SAGA drummer Curt Cress, guitarist Peter Weihe and PLANET P, EINSTEIN and WOLFGANG AMBROS guitarist Johan Daansen.

LESSMAN / ZILLER scored well in their homeland, following up the album release with the single 'Charlie & Louise', also featured in the movie soundtrack 'Charlie & Louise - Das Doppelte Lottchen'. Subsequent singles would be 1994's 'Fur Dich' and 'Die Antwort Weiss Des Wind ' in 1995.

Lessmann and Ziller engaged into litigation against the set of musicians then operating under the BONFIRE banner in an attempt to win back the legal ownership of the band title and songs. They would be successful, the duo duly reforming BONFIRE and making their comeback by releasing 'Feels Like Coming Home' in 1996.
