Jürgen Richard Blackmore, born in London during 1964, is the guitar playing son of DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW legend RITCHIE BLACKMORE and a German mother Margit. Having first come to prominance as a member of German Metal band IRON ANGEL in the mid 80s, featuring on the 'Winds Of War' album, he also worked with acts such as STRAIGHT and SUPERSTITION. Jürgen eventually formed his own group which resulted in the release of an album's worth of material, 'Still Holding On', which debuted in 1990. The material had been recorded some at both Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire, Wales and Hansa Studios in Berlin. In addition to his own work the guitarist has also collaborated on material with JADED HEART vocalist Michael Bormann.

As a solo artist, JÜRGEN BLACKMORE, collaborating with keyboard player Malte Rathke, issued a four song EP, 'Recall The Past', in December of 2005. The Twilight-Vertrieb label re-issued the 'Still Holding On' album that same year.

In November 2008 it was learned Blackmore had joined erstwhile RAINBOW musicians JOE LYNN TURNER, Tony Carey, Bobby Rondinelli and Greg Smith in the band OVER THE RAINBOW.
