Biography

Originally formed in 1983 as a Frankfurt based duo of ex-TOKYO lead vocalist Klaus Luley and keyboard player Franz Keil, the pair began working with guitarist Reinhard Besser who had just come off the road in America with former RAINBOW keyboard player TONY CAREY

Having refined their totally Melodic Rock sound to perfection CRAAFT signed to Epic and would later added drummer Tom Schneider and ex-KROKUS bassist Tommy Keiser to the fold. The Peter Hauke produced debut 'Craaft' album featured session appearances by MEAT LOAF bassist Steven Buslow and former PAT TRAVERS and BLACKJACK drummer Sandy Gennaro.

CRAAFT, seen by many as Epic's answer to fellow German's ZENO, received laudatory reviews for the debut work and toured Europe with QUEEN. This activity did not prevent Besser from leaving; the guitarist being replaced by Marcus Schleicher in time for the follow up album, 'Second Honeymoon', co-produced by Uwe Block and Peter Hauke.

CRAAFT added bassist Denny Rothardt and guitarist Vitek Spacek for the third album 'No Tricks Just Kicks'. Spacek later joined MR. PERFECT.
