Biography
SCORPIONS drummer released what was generally acknowledged to be a very poor attempt at a solo album, which despite featuring a plethora of known musicians and production by Ric Browde, was weighed down by dull songs. The two albums, 'Nip In The Bud' and 'Herman Ze German And Friends', are essentially the same but the latter release has completely re-recorded vocals and a re-mix courtesy of Michael Wagener. The track 'I'll Say Goodbye' was co-written with DOKKEN mainman Don Dokken.
Artists on the album include bassist Juan Croucier of RATT, vocalists DON DOKKEN, JACK RUSSELL of GREAT WHITE, Charlie Huhn of VICTORY, the esteemed STEVE MARRIOTT and guitarists Chris Storey and David Cooper. Neither release found favour with the buying public.
The drummer bowed out of the SCORPIONS following their 1993 album 'Face The Heat'. His career with the band had seen the drummer's name on an international reputation boasting 32 million album sales, 30 platinum albums and 78 gold records. Rareball issued his version of the GLENN MILLER big band classic 'In The Mood' as a single in 1995 featuring guitarist Dee Cooper. The following year found the drummer in the studio recording demo tracks with Swiss vocalist Marco Paganini, a scene veteran of VIVA and PAGANINI.
Quite surreally a Polish Grindcore band decided to name themselves HERMAN RAREBELL during 2003, featuring on a three way split CD 'The World Will Fall Soon And We All Will Die' allied with THIRD DEGREE and ANTIGAMA on Selfmadegod Records. The combo was in fact an ANTIGAMA side project of 'Szklany' (a.k.a. Sebastian Rokicki) and 'Siwy' (Krzysztof Bentkowski) in partnership with THIRD DEGREE vocalist Czarny and bassist Fazi.
HERMAN RAREBELL launched a German tour with his new band R&R in late April 2004. The group, which included former 7 SINS saxophonist and well known actress Claudia Raab, released a debut album 'The Rhythm of Art'. The shows would be far removed from a regular Rock n' Roll event, also featuring a truope of dancers as well as featuring original paintings by ROLLING STONES guitarist Ronnie Wood and Ronald Muri, founder of the "Pop-Expressionist Movement".
The SCORPIONS put on a celebratory event including former members for their headline show at the 'Wacken Open Air' festival on August 3rd 2006 billed 'A Night to Remember - A Journey in Time'. Not only did the band perform many archive songs featuring ULI JON ROTH, HERMAN RAREBELL and MICHAEL SCHENKER but they encored with 'In Search Of The Peace Of Mind' including all three players plus Michael's son Tyson Schenker on guitar.
In September Rarebell announced the formation of the project HERMAN RAREBELL AND BAND for a new album 'I'm Back'. This album included a re-recorded version of the SCORPIONS ' Rock You Like a Hurricane'. The group involved singer Stefan Erz, guitarist James Jackson and his wife Claudia Raab on saxophone.
For live work Rarebell's band comprised guitarist Duke Jackson, of STRIKEFORCE, singer Timexx Nasty, from DRIVIN' RAIN and BEGGARS JURY, plus Joe Council, from STRIKEFORCE and PUSH, on bass.
