Biography

Heidelberg Death Metal act INTO DARKNESS dates the the Summer of 1995, initiated by guitarists Sebastian Laengerer and Christian Popp. Despite a fluxing formative roster of band members the demo 'Misfortunal Odes In D-Minor' arrived in 1997. That Autumn bassist Florian Kos enrolled then vocalist J.J. Schork (a.k.a. 'Isegrimm') from Heidelberg Black Metal band GEWEIH enrolled. This formation, working with producer Constantin Voujouklidis, recorded the blue vinyl 7" single 'Reanimation' released in January 1998.

In November of 1998 INTO DARKNESS recorded two tracks for use on compilation albums, 'Facetious Torture' featuring on 'Deathphobia IV' and 'Change Of Course' being used for the French release 'Propulsive Synphonies'. In December American drummer Tik was installed for live work. Notably, the band supported CENTINEX and NUNSLAUGHTER in September 2000. Christian Popp then opted out but the group still undertook the Spring 2001 'Blasphemous Enslavement of Darkness' tour in union with Czech Deathsters DEMENTOR, after which Tik departed.

INTO DARKNESS then engaged in recording sessions for the 'Dysphoria' album. Erstwhile IRONY and ANGUISH bassist Björn Daigger was added in 2002. Drums would be delated to Herbert Grimm of ANASARCA and EYE SEA on a fill in session basis until Chris Merzinsky, ex-PENETRALIA and MIDNATTSOL, joined. Daigger joined MAJESTY as rhythm guitarist in 2004, being replaced by Alex. Chris Merzinsky dropped out in May 2005.

Chris Merzinsky and Björn Daigger formed up R.I.P. ("Raw Intense Power"), working with RESPAWN INC. man Fabian Pospiech on vocals and ex-ANGUISH sibling Sven Daigger on keyboards.
