FLOWING TEARS

Biography

Previously known as FLOWING TEARS AND WITHERED BEAUTY issuing the 1996 debut album 'Swansongs'. Under their previous incarnation the band also released 1998's 'Joy Parade', which witnessed the induction of lead vocalist Stefanie Duchêne, and 1999's 'Swallow' mini album. Under their truncated title FLOWING TEARS debut 2000 album 'Jade' was produced by GRIP INC. guitarist Waldemar Sorychta. Following this album the band underwent a radical overhaul of membership with guitarist Manfred Bersin, keyboard player Mike Volz and drummer Eric Hilt all departing.

FLOWING TEARS superb January 2002 opus 'Serpentine' saw drums supplied by Stefan Gemballa, previously with RED AIM. The band would support the record with a lengthy European tour in March alongside label mates TIAMAT and MOONSPELL. During June Gemballa would set about recording a solo album in alliance with ANGEL DUST's Dirk Thurisch and TIAMAT's Anders Iwers. Both guitarist Benjamin Buss 'Foxworth' and drummer Stefan Gemballa have also made themselves a name operating the less than serious Stoner act RED AIM.

Sadly, FLOWING TEARS parted ways with singer Stefanie Duchene in January of 2003. Helen Vogt stepped up as replacement in May, debuting with the band at the Wave Gotik Festival and Rock Harz Open Air events. Having spent September working with producer Waldemar Sorychta on a new record entitled 'Razorbliss' in October the new look FLOWING TEARS supported MY DYING BRIDE at the London Astoria. The band supported THE GATHERING on their March 2004 dates before extending their touring reach further with gigs spanning April and May united with AFTER FOREVER.

Tragedy struck on 20th October 2004 when founding FLOWING TEARS AND WITHERED BEAUTY band members Björn Lorson and Christian Zimmer were both killed in a car accident.

The band put in an appearance at the NIGHTWISH headlined 'Metal Female Voices Fest II' event held in Brussels during November. The group formed up a bill comprising EPICA, SENGIR, DARKWELL, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS, ASHES YOU LEAVE and SYRENS CALL.

FLOWING TEARS featured on the bill of the EPICA headlined 'Metal Female Voices Fest VII' on 17th October 2009 at Oktoberhallen in Wieze, Belgium.
