Biography

Berlin Heavy Metal band. MIND ODYSSEY members Mario Le Mole, Dan Uhden and Rocco Stellmacher had previously played together in MERLIN, whilst Volker Schultz was once in a group titled SPLINTER. Le Mole and Schultz formed GRACIOUS VIOLENCE after leaving their respective bands and released a 1992 demo produced by ELOY mainman Frank Bornemann.

Taking up with Uhden and Stellmacher under the name MIND ODYSSEY the following year, the duo secured a recording deal with Noise Records. Needless to say, the new outfit's debut album, 'Keep It All Turning', was produced by Frank Bornemann.

Since the album was released Le Mole decided to concentrate simply on vocal duties, MIND ODYSSEY consequently recruiting new bassist Gregor Avianus to the ranks, although both Stellmacher and Uhden would quit before recording of the sophomore release 'Schizophenia' appeared. ACCEPT guitarist Herman Frank handled production duties. Live promotion was generated with German concerts opening for VICIOUS RUMORS.

MIND ODYSSEY would subsequently enlist the services of Garret Matzko on guitar. Victor Smolski would be occupying the six-string position for July 1998's 'Nailed To The Shade', this set produced by Charly Czajkowski.European shows had the band supporting SAVATAGE.

Point Music released the 'Signs' album in September 1999.

With the demise of MIND ODYSSEY, guitarist Victor Smolski joined RAGE. The compilation 'Best Of - 15 Years' emerged in 2008.

MIND ODYSSEY, quoting a membership of Mario Le Mole, Victor Smolski, Dan Uhden, bassist Jan-Michael Keller plus "The Animal" on drums, returned to the scene with a new album, 'Time To Change It' on Austrian imprint Napalm Records, in February 2009. Tour dates in Germany saw support to RAGE.
