BEAUTIFUL SIN is a project assembled by the HELLOWEEN, GAMMA RAY and MASTERPLAN credited drummer Uli Kusch. Featured musicians comprised the PAGAN'S MIND pairing of guitarist Jørn Viggo Lofstad and bass player Steinar Krokmo, Belgian female singer Magali Luyten plus MASTERPLAN keyboard player Axel Mackenrott. The act, recording in Belgium and Norway, completed work on a debut album in February 2006. 'The Unexpected' was then set for May 2006 issue through AFM Records.

The album included a remake of 'The Departed Sun Is Going Down' from HELLOWEEN's 'The Dark Ride' album in its original form and a cover version of the song 'Die Diktatur der Angepassten' from German band BLUMFELD. Japanese variants added the bonus track 'She Is Made Of Rain'.

In parallel to BEAUTIFUL SIN, Kusch also activated RIDE THE SKY working alongside former TEARS OF ANGER and BEYOND TWILIGHT singer Bjørn Jansson and BENNY JANSSON on guitar. BEAUTIFUL SIN announced the addition of guitarist Carl Johan Grimmark, whose credentials include the MODEST ATTRACTION, SENTINEL, ROB ROCK band, FLAGSHIP, PLANET ALLIANCE and Jönköping based Christian outfit NARNIA, to the group's ranks in December 2006.
