Biography

80s style Heavy Metal act out of the Durlangen/Waiblingen area of Southern Germany. Founded in 1990 BLACK ABYSS first came to notice with the 1992 Falk Gruber produced demo tape 'For Eternity'. The band also had the track 'Silent Screams' featured on 'After The Sepulture' compilation album issued by Radiation Records in 1995.

The group self-financed 1998's 'Why' album, recorded at Nightmare Studio Fautsbach by Eckart Erlenbusch, before signing to the Bossy Ogress label. The July 2001 BLACK ABYSS album 'Land Of Darkness' would include a cover version of IRON MAIDEN's 'The Trooper', the track featuring a guesting Sven D'Anna of WIZARD on vocals. BRAINSTORM's Marcus Jürgens also guests on these sessions, produced by Eckart Erlenbusch at Subzero Studios in Backnung, which saw Stephan Waibel donating keyboard effects.

BLACK ABYSS, despite losing the services of bassist Bernd Gerosa in May, was projecting a third album for 2002 release entitled 'Angels Wear Black'. This record, produced by Dieter Roth at Roth Recording in Burghaslach and mastered at Church Mastering in Streitberg by Uli Friedel , finally emerged through Massacre Records during September 2004. Ambitiously, the recorded boasted orchestration contributed by the Orchestre Symphonique de Prautoules. Christian Wächtler provided backing vocals.

BLACK ABYSS acted as openers for the EXCITER and STEEL ATTACK Winter tour of Europe. Bassist Andreas Siegl joined MY DARKEST HATE in February 2007.
