Biography
CLOCK, initiated during 1997, is a side project of DEF LEPPARD guitarist VIVIAN CAMPBELL. The Irishman has carved a high profile reputation in the world of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, beginning his career with Belfast NWoBHM act SWEET SAVAGE before being plucked into stardom with DIO. Generally acknowledged to have given Ronnie James Dio the best albums to date, certainly the best selling, in 'Holy Diver' and 'Last In Line', Campbell then bailed out following completion of DIO's 'Sacred Heart' opus in May of 1986 to form a new act TRINITY with bassist Davy Watson and drummer Pat Waller.
He subsequently appeared with in an equally high profile spell with WHITESNAKE before forming RIVERDOGS. The guitarist spent a brief period with a formative NELSON, playing on then erstwhile FOREIGNER vocalist LOU GRAMM's solo album 'Long Hard Look' before forming SHADOWKING with Gramm and finally settling back into the international spotlight once more in DEF LEPPARD. Campbell also founded a side project titled CLOCK in alliance with guitarist Manny Alvarez, former NO SWEAT keyboard player Paul J. Smith, bassist Mark Browne and FOREIGNER drummer Mark Schulman. Line-up changes saw both Browne and Alvarez exiting after a first set of demos, the bass position then going to Sasha Krivstov, a veteran of the multi-platinum Russian band ZIMERENIA.
CLOCK issued a very limited edition album in 1998, a track from which, 'To Be Alive', was subsequently re-worked for DEF LEPPARD's 'Euphoria' album. CLOCK gigs in 2004 would see Jason Mezilis of MAD SOCIETY acting as fill in bassist. With Campbell engaged in touring with DEF LEPPARD and Mark Schulman likewise occupied on the road with CHER throughout much of 2005 activity on the CLOCK front would be minimal. During this downtime Sasha Krivstov put his face onto the global television screens, featuring in the house band for the reality show 'INXS - Rock Star'. VIVIAN CAMPBELL issued his debut solo outing, the Blues orientated 'Two Sides Of If', in September 2005.
