Cirencester melodic Hard Rock act. Guitarist Ashley Jon Limer, singer Trev Short, bass player Pete Gentil and drummer Andy Powell are all ex-NWoBHM act DEALER. Guitarist Pete Southern is ex-KIDD WICKED. VAN DAMNE later added former TIGERTAILZ drummer Andy Skinner. Limer contributed guitar to RAINBOW vocalist Dougie White's solo project band CHAIN in 1996.

The 'Red Skies' album was recorded with a revised line-up comprising Trev Short, Pete Southern and the erstwhile EMPIRE trio of guitarist Chris Gyngell, keyboard player Martin Peters (formerly Martin Arnold of RAIDER) and drummer Paul Cooke. Gyngell also held prior credits with CHASER, CRYWOLF and the FYREBYRDS.

By 1997 VAN DAMNE had effectively become a solo vehicle for guitarist Southern. Joining him on the Japanese released 'Renaissance' album are ex-BAJJON, CAPRICE and LITTLE BIG HORN vocalist Ivan Norris along with KID WICKED and BALANCE OF POWER credited members bassist Tony Ritchie and drummer Lionel Hicks.
