Black Metal band SETH, forged during 1995 by frontman Vicompte Vampyr Arkames, guitarist Heimoth and drummer Alsvid, emerged with the 1997 three track EP 'By Fire, Power Shall Be'. The band's 2000 album 'War Vol. III' was recorded in collaboration with Italians CULTUS SANGUINE and includes a cover of the CULTUS SANGUINE track 'The Calling Illusion' and more adventurously DEPECHE MODE's 'Behind The Wheel'.

SETH switched to Osmose Productions for the 2000 'L'Excellence' album. The move obviously paid off as SETH more than doubled their sales. Following this release bassist Faucon Noir decamped. SETH would debut Noir's replacement Helldryk- along with an additional second guitarist Nacht, at benefit shows for DEATH's Chuck Schuldiner in November 2000. Nacht would also be operational with GOATLORD, a trio involving former FORNICATION guitarist Seremoth and VORACIOUS GANGRENE drummer Stef G.

In June of 2001 drummer Alsvid announced he was to double up drumming duties, remaining with SETH but also joining celebrated Belgian Black Metal act ENTHRONED. However, SETH would suffer a permanent loss when vocalist Vicompte Vampyr Arkames made his exit in order to concentrate on his two other acts MORNINGRISE and AD INFERA.

Toward the close of the year SETH, with guitarist Nacht taking on the lead vocal role, laid down a METAL CHURCH cover version for a tribute album. Live work saw the band's inclusion at the 'Xmas' festivals in Tilburg, Holland and Anvers, Belgium alongside MARDUK, CANNIBAL CORPSE, VOMITORY and DARK FUNERAL. A new album 'Divine X' arrived in April of 2002, recorded with both French and English lyrics. By September guitarist/vocalist Nacht was out of the frame, SETH inducting Black Messiah of MONARCHIA DAEMONIUM in his stead.

Burgeoning interest in the band prompted a re-packaging of SETH's early works, their first mini album 'By Fire, Power Shall Be' along with their inaugural 1996 demo 'Apocalyptic Desires' in April of 2003 as the 'Nastivity' package through Apokalypse Records. Under the banner 'Days Of Suffering' SETH allied themselves with ENTHRONED, AGATHODAIMON and DESTINITY for a spate of European dates in April and May. The band, vocalist Black Messiah, guitarists Heimoth and new recruit Cyriex, bassist Helldyk and Alsvid on drums, opened 2004 by cutting a new studio album with the working title of 'Era-Decay'.

In early 2005 the band contributed to the Townsend Avalanche Music IMMORTAL tribute album entitled 'Epimythion - Tribute to Immortal' with their rendition of 'Battles In The North'.

During 2008 guitarist Heimoth and guitarist Cyriex, of ASMODÉE, united with CODE members Aort and Kvohst to forge the DECREPIT SPECTRE project, debuting with the EP 'Coal Black Hearses' in December on Paradigm Recordings.
