Biography
RAJNA take Gothic, ethereal Darkwave into the realms of the truly adventurous employing such diverse ethnic instrumentation from India, Tibet and Nepal as bamboo flutes, kora, sanza, udu, djembe, harp loma, ramkie, santoor, bendir and derbouka. The band first made their mark in 1997 citing a line up of the operatically trained vocalist Jeanne, Fabrice Lefebvre on strings and percussion and Gerard Chambellant, the latter tackling obscure instruments such as the Yang T'Chin.
The groundbreaking 'Yahili' record was recorded within the unique confines of a Tibetan monastery. 2001 found Chambellant leaving after the heavily mystic influenced 'The Heady Wine Of Praise' album. This album would include a cover version of DEAD CAN DANCE's 'Cantara'.
