Black Thrash Metal with a prevalent 80s stance. WIZZARD mainman Teemu Kautonen is ex-DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED and NATTVINDENS GRAT. WIZZARD, initially a solo project of 'Hexenmeister' (Teemu Kautonen) debuted with the demo 'I Am The King'. Although recorded in March 1996, financial uncertainties with the band's German label resulted in a three year delay before the release of the debut album.

WIZZARD's early line-up comprised of Kautonen, guitarist Hellboozer, second guitarist Demonos (Janne Sova) of BARATHRUM and drummer Ville. After recording of the first record Wellu took over the drum position before Kautonen relocated to Germany establishing WIZZARD as an all new trio rounded off by THARGOS members guitarist Daniel Reiß and drummer Cy 'Grobi' Grobmeier. By August of 1997 though the man was back in Finland laying down the sophomore 'Devilmusick' album for Spinefarm Records. Line-up for this release was Kautonen, guitarist Tapio Wilska ('Torquemada') of FINNTROLL, NIGHTWISH, SETHIAN, OBSCENE EULOGY, LYIJYKOMPPANIA and TOTAL DEVASTATION repute and drummer J. Crow. For live work another DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED and NATTVINDENS GRÅT man, drummer Tero Leinonen, joined the fold. A package tour of Finland with BARATHRUM, HORNA and BABYLON WHORES was undertaken with JeeJee (Juuso Jalasmäki) of SETHIAN and NATTVINDENS GRÅT on second guitar and Torquemada switched to bass.

Further Finnish dates in April 1998 witnessed the departure of Tero and inclusion of erstwhile NIGHTWISH guitarist Samppa. With Pasi making up the numbers on drums a third album was recorded for Near Dark Productions but fiscal matters once more dogged the band and the album would be shelved. Fortunately for WIZZARD Massacre Records sub division Gutter Records licensed the album 'Songs Of Sin And Decadence' for 2000 release.

WIZZARD's 2000 EP 'Tormentor' sees a cover of JUDAS PRIEST's 'Breaking The Law'. Kautonen relocated back to Germany and also resurrected his union with Dan and Grobi for a further incarnation of WIZZARD. John Blöchinger was introduced on second guitar in 2001.
