Biography

A highly rated if troubled act. ENOCHIAN CRESCENT are well known for having frontman Wrath (a.k.a. Janne Kuru) hospitalised after he slit his wrists open onstage at a gig in the Tavastia Klubi supporting EMPEROR. Apparently the singer did not realise how sharp the knife was. ENOCHIAN CRESCENT has had their career blighted by line-up problems. The band began in 1995 with a membership of Wrath, guitarists Anshelm (Anssi Hyvärinen) and W.G. Victor (Karri Suoraniemi of WINGS and CARTILAGE repute), bassist Harald and drummer Caer Hallam Generis. The latter was better known as ex-CARTILAGE man Kai Hahto, also citing credits with VOMITURION, AGRESSOR and ROTTEN SOUND. This version of the band cut the opening 1996 demo 'Anno Bastardi' after which Anshelm decamped.

The band signed a deal with domestic label Woodcut Records, owned by ex-CARTILAGE singer Mikki Salo, for the debut 'Telecvovim' album, ENOCHIAN CRESCENT now featuring the guitar talents of Michael and Eappa. However, Michael would quit the ranks prior to the follow up 'Omega Telecvovim'. Drums were now in the hands of ...AND OCEANS and BLACK DAWN man Grief (Jani Martikkala).

A whole slew of ENOCHIAN CRESCENT musicians would join THROES OF DAWN in November 2001, the suspects in question being guitarist Mathias, rhythm guitarist Mikko, drummer Martex (actually Martikkala under a new pseudonym), and bassist Harri. In 2004 Woodcut Records published the 'OBC Collection', a three single CD set featuring ENOCHIAN CRESCENT, O and THE TRUE BLACK DAWN. The latter act would in fact be the re-billed BLACK DAWN, featuring both Wrath and Grief.
