Biography

Having been formulated in Tampere during 1999 DREAMTALE would offer up their first demo 'Shadow Of The Frozen Sun' in Autumn of that year. The group went through a variety of players, including later MASTERSTROKE keyboard player Mikko Viheriälä, until settling on a stabilised line-up in time for a debut live showing as opening act for SINERGY in July of 2000. DREAMTALE's membership at this stage counted former HARDWARE man Rami Keränen on vocals and guitar, second guitarist Esa Orjatsalo, bass player Alois Weimer, SYMBIOSIS keyboard player Turkka Vuorinen and Petteri Rosenbom on drums. A second tape, 'Refuge From Reality', scored well in a national talent contest leading to TV exposure and pulled in commendable reviews from the Finnish Metal press.

DREAMTALE signed to the Spinefarm label, working with producer Pasi Ristolainen for their inaugural 2002 album 'Beyond Reality'. However, vocalist Rami Keränen suffered throat problems in April and decided to concentrate solely on guitar. Just upfront of the album release bassist Alois Weimer opted out but the band's producer Pasi Ristolainen soon plugged the gap. The multi talented Ristolainen had a wealth of experience as guitarist for DEAD CITY KLOWNS and as drummer for both YLIANNOSTUS and the bizarrely titled ROBUST DUCK. That same month DREAMTALE welcomed onboard new lead singer Tomi Viiltola, a man with credits in acts such as SANTHYR and ALLIANCE. Shortly after release of the 2003 album 'Ocean's Heart' the band severed ties with Viiltola, swiftly bringing in Jarkko Ahola of BULLDOZER, COSMIC SPELL and TERÄSBETONI as their new frontman. This new line-up ensconced themselves in Goldenworks Studios to craft a new record, produced by Timo Tolkki of STRATOVARIUS.

Esa Orjatsalo would step in as temporary live guitarist for Swedish band AMARAN's January 2004 European tour after their regular man Ronnie Backlund was forced out after having fractured his arm. Orjatsalo would exit the ranks of DREAMTALE in mid October. DREAMTALE's 'Difference' album was once again recorded at Timo Tolkki's Goldenworks studio with Tolkki producing, being mixed at Finnvox studios by Mikko Karmila. DREAMTALE entered the national Finnish single charts in January 2005, 'Wellon' debuting at an impressive no. 9.

Vocalist Jarkko Ahola exited in April, prioritising his other act TERÄSBETONI, being replaced by Nils Nordling. DREAMTALE parted ways with drummer Petteri Rosenbom in July. Yet more changes saw DREAMTALE parting ways with keyboard player Turkka Vuorinen, substituting him with 17-year-old Akseli Kaasalainen.
