Pietarsaari Black Metal act TWILIGHT MOON was assembled as TEARS OF THE VOID in the spring of 1998 by vocalist Mathias Lillmåns, of DEGENERATE and CARNATICUM, and TINNITUS drummer Kenneth Nygård, soon acquiring guitar player Joonas Lönnbäck that April and keyboard player Karin Thörnfeldt. The band, switching title to TWILIGHT MOON, would go through several rhythm guitarists that year prior to recording their debut, five-track demo in December. The EP 'Aether' followed in August 2000, after which second guitarist Mikael Mannström, of CARNATICUM, was inducted.

Thörnfeldt, relocating to Sweden, opted out in July 2001, being replaced by Caroline "Syssi" Ahlvik for recording of the single 'Shattered Reflections'. Lönnbäck left in early 2003 and was replaced by Jonas Frilund. TWILIGHT MOON then signed a distribution deal with Melancholia Records for the 'Delusional' EP, arriving in late 2003. This release would be promoted by a video clip for the song 'Trembling Sky'. Thörnfeldt made a return to the fold in August 2005.

TWILIGHT MOON singer Mathias Lillmåns joined FINNTROLL as their new frontman in April 2006.
