FÖRGJORD began life in late 1995 under the formative title BRIGHTNESS OF DARKNESS, a trio assembled at the hands of vocalist Prokrustes Thanatos, bassist Fullmoon and Hypnos on the drums. Subsequently Valgrinder completed the band unit on guitar. Rough demos ensued before the group took on a new title of WINTERFLESH. However, at this juncture Fullmoon bailed out and shortly afterward Hynos followed. With such radical changes the remaining duo, seeing Thanatos adding the drumming role to his responsibilities, adopted a further revised title of FÖRGJORD. During April of 2000 Thanatos and Valgrinder, in union with guitarist Wargasmeister, kickstarted the NJAFRAR side project for the demo 'Utopia (Acts Of Death & Euphory)'.

A split EP with NEKROKRIST was plotted for 2002.
