The genesis of Progressive Metal band IMPISH lay in the year 2000, when drummer Juho Raappana joined MYTHOS, a band also featuring guitarist Jyrki Hiltunen. The pair of musicians would journey through various bands since then, including SYNTHETIC SOUL and MOGULOS, on their way to founding IMPISH. Antti Karhu, of MENTAL VOICE and JOINT DEPRESSION, enrolled to handle lead vocals and guitar duties in 2003 and GRIMDAR's Juha Jääskelä took on bass duties in February of 2004.

Raappana also operated with both GRIMDAR and CATAMENIA. The drummer joined ETERNAL TEARS OF SORROW in December 2008.
