Biography

The idea of forming the Finnish Gothic Metal 'Supergroup' FOR MY PAIN was born in Autumn 1999. Until the real formation of the band it took until March 2002. The initial formation of the band comprised of keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen of NIGHTWISH, the ETERNAL TEARS OF SORROW triumvirate of bassist Altti Veteläinen, guitarist Olli-Pekka Törrö and drummer Petri Sankala, guitarist Lauri Tuohimaa of EMBRAZE and fronted by REFLEXION vocalist Juha Kylmänen. Female vocal accompaniment came courtesy of RAM ZET's Miriam 'Sfinx' Renvåg. None too surprizingly FOR MY PAIN would score an album deal with the Spinefarm label almost immediately for the album 'Fallen'.

During 2003 vocalist Altti Veteläinen fronted the resurrected the pioneering Thrash Metal band NATIONAL NAPALM SYNDICATE, a union with the original guitar pairing of Markku Jokikokko and Jukka Kyrö, their BURNING POINT colleague drummer Jari Kaiponen alongside CATAMENIA and DOROTHA bassist Tero Nevala.

Juha Kylmänen would temporarily fill in for TO/DIE/FOR, acting as stand in singer for their October Mexican dates. FOR MY PAIN's 'Killing Romance' EP, this featuring a cover of 'Joutsenlaulu' originally by JUSSI HAKULINEN. Incredibly this debut entered the national Finnish charts at no. 8, moving up a place to no. 7 the following week.

FOR MY PAIN brought in the services of POISONBLACK keyboard player Marco Sneck for their appearance at the August 2004 'Jalometalli' festival in Oulu.
