Former ETERNITY guitarist LARS ERIC MATTSSON debuted as a solo artist in 1989 with his 'Eternity' album. 'Vision' featured ex-RACEWAY and GREAT KING RAT vocalist Conny Lind. Mattsson also operated a band titled VISION for a 1997 album 'Till The End Of Time'. The guitarist featured heavily on the high profile JASON BECKER tribute album 'Warmth In The Wilderness' contributing the tracks 'Hammerhead Shark' along with MARK BOALS, 'Tell The Truth' with Pamme Kirby, ROBIN McAULEY and ALEX MASI and the 'Outro Jam' on which Mattson performs electric Sitar. He would also show his skills on fretless bass for TORBEN ENEVOLDSEN's version of 'Altitudes'. A second volume of 'Warmth In The Wilderness' found Mattson participating on the song 'Colors'.

Mattsson teamed up with PLANET X keyboard player DEREK SHERINIAN and fellow six-string shredder ALEX MASI for the 2000 CONDITION RED project album. Mattsson has also employed the services of BALTIMOORE and KROKUS vocalist Bjorn Lodin.

For the 2001 opus 'Another Dimension' the guitarist had simply assummed the MATTSSON title. In 2002 Mattsson would be found working as producer and arranger for Metal band WINTERLONG and the project offshoot STAR QUEEN. His next solo effort 'Power Games' also saw release in 2003 under the MATTSSON handle. This record saw the inclusion of EMPIRE and BALANCE OF POWER vocalist Lance King. The MATTSSON band, including singer Mikaela Mattsson, drummer Eddie Sledgehammer and a guesting ex-MEGADETH guitarist CHRIS POLAND would contribute their rendition of 'Parisienne Walkways' to the 2004 GARY MOORE tribute album 'Give Us Moore'. That same year the ever industrious guitarist issued a further project album credited to BOOK OF REFLECTIONS.

The 2005 'War' endeavour, recorded in the main at New Lion's Cage Studios in Aland, Finland, saw contributions from such artists as Iren Jansson of AYREON and STAR ONE on both 'Where's Our Chance' and 'A Dreamer's Lullaby', Björn Jansson of IMAGINERY and TEARS OF ANGER on 'This Is The End', MARK BOALS of RING OF FIRE on the song 'Deep In The Shadows', VITALIJ KUPRIJ of RING OF FIRE and ARTENSION, Lance King of BALANCE OF POWER and PYRAMAZE repute on 'Your Dream' and Andre Vuurboom from SUN CAGED and SPHERE OF SOULS featured on 'Smoke And Mirrors'.

In early 2007 the guitarist provided guest playing on Chicago based British guitarist ANDREW BORDONI's solo album entitled 'Andrew Bordoni & Friends'.
