THE MACHETE

Biography

THE MACHETE is a retro-styled, Lappeenranta based Thrash Metal band formulated initially as a jam session during early 2003, pulling together drummer Teemu Saikkonen, Kuisma Aalto of MOKOMA and ex-MIND RIOT man Juha Javanainen on guitar. This trio would subsequently be joined by MOKOMA bassist Santtu Hämäläinen, then swiftly reformulated itself as this newest candidate switched to guitar and Aalto took on the bass role. By the close of the year enough material had been gathered for an album. At first Esa Salminen of NORTHERN DISCIPLINE was adopted as frontman until the MOKOMA and MIND RIOT credited Tuomo Saikkonen stepped in to record demos in June 2004.

THE MACHETE underwent a line-up change as 2005 dawned, Kuisma relinquishing his post, necessitating Tuomo taking over bass duties as a promotional video for the track 'Loss For Words' scored the band national recognition on the 'Inferno' DVD. That July the band signed to Spinefarm Records. The 'Regression' album was recorded by Miitri Aaltonen at Music Bros Studios in Imatra.
