Biography

JUMALHÄMÄRÄ (meaning "Twilight of the Gods") is a Lahti Black Metal project. Starting operations during 1996 the act is centred on former MȪRKȪ members K.V.U. Lind, on vocals, and keyboard player Iiro Nyqvist. The act has remained fluid, with participants having included guitarists T. Eskola, Kai Huovinen, of NOWEN, TORN and DIM MOONLIGHT and Kimmo Korhonen, of NOWEN, HELION, SOLACIDE and DIM MOONLIGHT, plus bass players H-P. Wecman, KANTTURA's Antti Cannelin and Jan Huovinen of DIM MOONLIGHT and NOWEN. Drums were supplied by Lasse Heikkonen and Dani Miettinen of DIM MOONLIGHT, TUONI and BEFORE THE DAWN.

JUMALHÄMÄRÄ released the demos 'Storm Of The Burned Candles' in August 1998 and 'Blossom Of Revulsion' in September 1999. A live album, 'Perkeleen Valta Ja Voima' recorded at the Lahti 'Hammerfest' event, was released by Mählä Productions in March 2000. This set included renditions of CANNIBAL CORPSE's 'Hammer Smashed Face' and DEICIDE's 'When Satan Rules His World', both simply credited by initials.

The June 2001 single 'Vanity Of Humanity', on Northern Sound, was limited to 500 copies. A commercial re-issue of 'Blossom Of Revulsion' in 2002 added an untitled track, actually being a cover version of EMPEROR's 'Inno A Satana'.

Mikko Heikkilä, of SINAMORE, forged a further side union with Tuomas Saukkonen under the title BLACK SUN AEON, debuting with a March 2009 album 'Darkness Walks Besides Me'.
