Purveyors of Black Metal, Kitee's DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED have been strongly influenced by BATHORY and the Swedish outfit's 'Hammerheart' album in particular. The act arrived with a 1993 demo 'Reborn In Promethean Flame' although at the time the band was rather tastelessly titled VIRGIN'S CUNT. A further VIRGIN'S CUNT demo was released in 1994 'Dark Aureoles Gathering'. Later versions of the same demo would be sold under the new, more salutary, band name of DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED. The group notably employed the session services on much of their recorded work of drummer Tero Leinonen of WIZZARD and NATTVIND along with NIGHTWISH, SETHIAN, FOR MY PAIN, FURTHEST SHORE and NATTVIND keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen.

Rebranded as DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED, Korean label Hammerheart Productions took the band on for the debut February 1995 album 'Heirs Of The Northstar'. They then switched to German imprint Solistitium Records for follow up 'Autumn Roars Thunder' released in May 1996. 1998's 'Witch-Hunts', now seeing DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED contracted to domestic label Spinefarm, would see guitar contributions from Erno Vuorinen. A notable single release in November that same year, 'Sacrament Of Wilderness', would be put out as a collaboration with NIGHTWISH and ETERNAL TEARS OF SORROW.

Bassist Hexenmeister (a.k.a. Teemu Kautonen) later went to NATTVINDENS GRAT and by 2000 had released an album 'Songs Of Sin And Decadence' with WIZZARD. He would also work with FURTHEST SHORE.

Singer Spellgoth is a member of TROLLHEIM'S GROTT. Drummer Lauri Rytkönen is also affiliated with TROLLHEIM'S GROTT, BLACK DEATH RITUAL and DEATHCHAIN.

In 2000 Cryonics Records issued the demo compilation 'Dark Aureoles Gathering'. Only 250 copies were pressed.
