Biography

Apocalyptic, Jyväskylä based Doom Metal band LYIJYKOMPPANIA was founded in 1981 by vocalist / guitarist Timo Rautiainen, bassist Olli Jaatinen and drummer Esa Moilanen. The group actually folded during 1983, without having released any formal product. The act was re-convened during 1990, featuring the same trio of players, and the following issued the EP 'Synkkää Jynkytystä' on Bassmania Records. A debut cassette album, 'Lyijykomppania', arrived in April 1993, swiftly followed by 'Uimakoulu'. That same year LYIJYKOMPPANIA underwent a line-up change with Jaatinen being superseded by ex-Tapio Wilska (a.k.a. 'Torquemada') . This latest candidate would himself be substituted by Arto Alaluusua in 1994 for the EP 'Suden Hetki' on RAM Disc. Meantime, Wilska would carve out a reputation on the Finnish Metal scene with a variety of acts such as FINNTROLL, NATTVINDENS GRÅT, SETHIAN, OBSCENE EULOGY, WIZZARD and TOTAL DEVASTATION.

Following recording of the 'Viimeinen Voitelu' album Timo Rautiainen and Arto Alaluusua made their exit, forging the hugely successful TIMO RAUTIAINEN & TRIO NISKALAUKAUS. With a loss of such gravity, LYIJYKOMPPANIA folded once again.

The name was resurrected by Moilanen once again in 2003, new faces being TO/DIE/FOR vocalist / guitarist Jarkko Strandman and BLINDMANN bassist Petri Lindström. This new unit re-debuted with the EP 'Kehitys Kulkee Perse Edellä'.
