Biography

Jääli Thrashers dating back to 1985. The first MAPLE CROSS formation counted guitarists Ilkka Heino and Marko Siekinnen, bass player Mika Karppinen with Ville Hyry on the drums. Inducting singer Marco R.J. the first product arrived in the form of a 1988 demo 'Thirteen Witches... But One Of Them'. Niko Karppinen took over bass duties and second session 'Sacrificed Humanity' followed in 1989. Another demo preceded thae recording of the 1991 album 'The Eighth Day Of Creation'. However, by 1992 MAPLE CROSS was back to demoing again, issuing the tape '5th For Us' with 'Uncontrolled Art' delivered in 1993 and 'Cool Maggots' in 1994. The original MAPLE CROSS ceased operations during 1996, with Niko Karppinen sessioning for SENTENCED, but returned to the stage in 2000.

This revised MAPLE CROSS only included Marco R.J. from the former band. He would be joined by guitarists Log (Sami Siekkinen), of EMBRAZE, and Late TT (Lauri Tuohimaa), of EMBRAZE, CHARON and FOR MY PAIN, with Ollari (Olli-Pekka Karvonen), from EMBRAZE and DIVISION BELL, on bass and BEDROCK and SICKNOTE drummer Aki. The re-vamped band utilsed Boogie Cellar Studios to cut a 2002 demo. In February 2004 MAPLE CROSS severed ties with guitarists Late TT and Log, replacing the pair with THYRANE's Avather and the SETHERY and LORD OF PAGATHORN credited Juha Henttunen. The group engaged in the 'Creatures from the North' tour of Finland throughout February and March, sharing stages with NATIONAL NAPALM SYNDICATE and SACRED CRUCIFIX. A limited edition, three way split EP, featuring new song 'The Greatest Hit' was distributed during this trek through Verikauha Records.

The band partnered with Liverpool Death Metal band DIAMANTHIAN for Finnish gigs in January 2006. MAPLE CROSS released a new album, entitled 'Heimo' preceded by the single 'Journey Of A Wolf', on January 31st 2007.
