The origins of RAPTURE are cloaked in mystery. Only vocalist Petri Eskelinen would survive from earlier incarnations. He would be joined by THY SERPENT guitarist Tomi Ullgren and SHAPE OF DESPAIR guitarist Jarno Salomaa to complete a band for the 'Futile' album. RAPTURE also include drummer Samu Ruotsalainen, better known under his nom de guerre of 'Beast Dominator' in the Black Oompah band FINNTROLL. Adding new guitarist Aleksi Ahokas, citing credits with DIABLERIE, FRAGILE HOLLOW, RAIN PAINT, EXCELSIOR, PROPHET and SNOWGARDEN, the group would cut a 2002 album, 'Songs For The Withering', for a summer release through Spikefarm Records. RAPTURE then added a second vocalist in the form of erstwhile DIABLERIE man Henri Villberg.

Jarno Salomaa helped forge the Doom imbued project band THE MIST AND THE MORNING DEW in cahoots with an all star line up comprising singer Veera Muhli of UNHOLY, THE SEVENTH PLANET pairing of rhythm guitarist Mikael Karlbom and drummer Henri Tuomi, FINNTROLL's bass player Sami Uusitalo and the violin of Jaakko Lemmetty of SHAMAN repute.
