Biography

Originally titled CELESTIAL AGONY upon their formation in 1995 by vocalist Valtias Mustatuuli and guitarist Routa Salomeri. As ARTHEMESIA the band issued an inaugural demo utilising the services of keyboard player Misery and ENISIFERUM drummer Oliver Fokin. A second tape in 1998, 'The Archaic Dreamer', saw a stable line-up including ENSIFERUM guitarist Jari Mäenpää (a.k.a. 'Arbaal'), bass player Jukka-Pekka Miettinen (a.k.a. 'Mor Voryon') and drummer Kimmo Miettinen (as 'Mor Vethor'). The band's convictions led to them self-financing the recording of the first album 'Devs Iratys' ('God - Wrathful'). Numerous session musicians were employed including Kaapro of CRY HAVOC.

ARTHEMESIA issued the 'Devs Iratus' album in 2001. However, following this release Salomeri left the band, being superseded by Mor Voryon. The band also incorporated a new bassist in Aconitum. During the summer of 2001 ARTHEMESIA drummer Kimmo Miettinen would join CADACROSS. 2002 witnessed changes with Aconitum being replaced by G´thaur of BARATHRUM and Magistra Nocte being enrolled as the new keyboard player.

ARTHEMESIA readied a new album 'ShamaNatahS - II Describe I Mind' for 2003 release. However, upfront of these sessions they would dispense with drummer Mor Vethor, rather uncharitably announcing "his skills didn't match the requirements of our music". Jari Mäenpää acivated his WINTERSUN solo endeavour in 2003.

ARTHEMESIA, recording the demo 'ShamaNatahS - Promo 2006ab', announced new drummer Erzebeth Meggadeath in May 2006.
