A Hämeenlinna Progressive Metal act first formulated as LUCID during 1995 by guitarist Jaakko Kunnas, keyboard player Lauri Heikkinen and bassist Ville Kankaanpää. A fluid starting position was stabilised with the addition of drummer Jari Salminen and singer Elias Revonta in time to cut demos in 1997. After these sessions, Leo Kunnnas joined as new drummer but the band lost its frontman.

In 2001 the group recruited former BULLDOZER vocalist Kim Högberg and in 2002 the demo 'The Shores Of Evermore' was released under the HELION brand. Evolving further, CORRUPTION INC. guitarist Hannu Tammela enrolled in 2003. The album 'Fool's Paradise' followed in May 2004 but HELION again underwent line-up changes, as Kim Högberg opted out to join WOLFCHILD, being replaced by Jukka Salo.

In June 2005 HELION laid down a three song promo, 'Shadow Of The Sun', limited to just 100 copies. A single, 'Pay Day', was released for Christmas. In early 2006 Tammela was superseded by Kimmo Korhonen of DIM MOONLIGHT, SOLACIDE, JUMLHÄMÄRÄ and NOWEN. HELION entered Studio Sound Supreme in August 2006 to cut a fourth album entitled 'Mercury Rising'.
