Founded by Finnish guitar maestro LARS ERIC MATTSON and keyboard player Alexander King the CONDITION RED Progressive Rock project was a truly international affair, incorporating Italian hotshot guitarist ALEX MASI and renowned keyboard player DEREK SHERINAN, a veteran of both ALICE COOPER and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN. Ella Grussner of BARKAVALL contributed violin and vocals. Lion Music released the self-titled debut in July 2000.

CONDITION RED returned in 2003 with the second instalment, granting singer / violinist Ella Grussner a much more prominent role from that of her contributions on the debut and adding EMPIRE drummer Gerald Kloos.

The band donated their rendition of DEEP PURPLE's 'Black Knight' to the 2003 'Blackmore's Castle - A Tribute to Deep Purple and Rainbow' album issued by Lion Music. Torgny Stjärnfelt guested on the 2004 BOOK OF REFLECTIONS debut, a mainly Scandinavian "All star" symphonic, neo-classical Power Metal project assembled by LARS ERIC MATTSON.
