Biography

FORCE MAJEURE formed in 1999, hailing from Järvenpää, Finland. Their first EP, 'A Prelude For Invasion' recorded in mid 2001, was recorded by a line-up comprising lead vocalist Niko Mattila, guitarists Eemeli Ojanen and Jussi Reuhkala - also handling bass, keyboard player R.Hyytiäinen and with R.Paajanen on the drums.

FORCE MAJEURE, having incorporated a new rhythm section of bassist Tuomas Väänänen and drummer Juuso Myllyharju, entered Sonic Pump Studios in October of 2002 for their next effort, suitably entitled 'Second Strike'. A third EP, 'Division Blue', was laid down in October of 2003, engineered by by Mika Haapasalo.

The band was joined by singer Ricky Tournee (a.k.a. Riku Turunen-Rantinoja), from ENFORCE, IRON SPHERE, FIRENOTE and MAIDEN HELL, in 2004. FORCE MAJEURE issued the 'Gatecrusher' EP in January 2005. That same year Riku Turunen guested as vocalist on the 2005 IKINAE demo 'Second Symptom'.

Veikko Oittinen opted out in 2006, being replaced by Kari Huikuri. More changes in April 2007 witnessed the exit of Juuso Myllyharju in favour of Heikki Saari, of VIRTUOCITY, ATHEME ONE, NORTHER, AMBERIAN DAWN and TUONI. Low Frequency Records released the album 'Frozen Chambers' in March 2008, this preceded by a radio promo single 'Dr. Daydream'.
