Biography

Skjern Death Metal act CRUCIFIX was manifested during 1993 as a covers act by guitar player Morten Agerbo and drummer Lars Groth, subsequently enlisting second guitarist Tommy Johnson, bassist Bo Simonsen then vocalist Hans Henrik. The group gained a track inclusion on the 1995 'Danish Upcommers' compilation album but then would be struck by tragedy when Henrik was killed in a motorbike accident. Simonsen quit shortly afterward but CRUCIFIX persevered to record an eponymous demo, Agerbo handling lead vocals. In late 1996 Jesper Hansen took on bass duties.

In November 1997 Morten Flindt joined on guitar and Rene Engholm became the new singer but Agerbo departed at the same juncture. CRUCIFIX gigged extensively throughout Denmark but ebentually parted ways with Engholm, the ex-singer joining EVIL PIGS. The group would re-enlist Morten Agerbo.

The band released a live demo, 'Caught Live In Varde', in February 1998. The second CRUCIFIX studio demo, 'Extermination' also issued in 1998, was produced by INVOCATOR's Jacob Hansen. The track 'Into the Unknown' was later released on a compilation album 'Extremity Rising Vol. 4.' Despite this progress, CRUCIFIX ceased activities.

In 2001 the band rose up once again prompted by interest from Diehard Records. However, this version of the band soon splintered. CRUCIFIX returned for a third attempt, with Flindt and Groth drawing in new members guitarist Jeppe Larsen and EVIL PIGS bassist Kristian Ohmer. This latter candidate soon exited and CRUCIFIX found a new frontman in Jens "Killhailer" Pedersen of VICTIMIZER, AD NOCTUM, UNDERGANG and CHURCH BIZARRE repute. Larsen then took his leave, being superseded by Måns.

CRUCIFICX went into a further hiatus during the Autumn of 2003 as Groth and Flindt pursued another band project called LUNAR CAUSTIC. Yet again CRUCIFIX was resurrected, briefly seeing Soeren Kusk handling the microphone in December 2004 before Killhailer returned. JUGGERNAUGHT's Martin Jacobsen was delegated bass.

Working with producer Alberto Gallista, the group cut a new demo, 'Where Angels Rot', in 2005. This release would benefit from a commerical re-issue through Polish label Gruft Prodüktions. That same year Pedersen would sub himself out to KILL for live work. Pedersen opted out during November 2005, prioritising VICTIMIZER and CHURCH BIZARRE, and CRUCIFIX duly drafted new singer Simon Skyrme in January 2006.
