Fredericia based raw Black Metal outfit previously went under the title of ISIS. AD NOCTUM's 1999 demo 'Jus Primae Noctis', following on from an opening 1997 ISIS session 'Tågefærd Gennem Nordens Land', included cover versions of BATHORY's 'Die In Fire' and MAYHEM's 'Deathcrush'. A third demo, 'Excellence of Supremacy', arrived in 2000. Drummer Galheim holds scene credentials with acts such as HELLSERMON, EXMORTEM and LIVJATAN. The band has also employed session guitarist Soth of HELLSERMON and MARERIDT.

During 2004 Ancient Darkness Productions packaged the demos 'Jus Primae Noctis' and 'Excellence Of Supremacy' together, adding the extra demo track 'Apoptosis', for album release. A full-length album, billed 'Arrogance', would be recorded for Ancient Darkness Productions in late 2005. Session lead vocals would be handled by ex-APOLLYON singer Vrykolatios.
