Biography

Copenhagen Power Metal band that evolved through covers acts MISERY and DECADES OF DARKNESS during 1995. The band, led by vocalist Martin Steene first arrived with a line-up including guitarist Kristian H. Martinsen, bassist Steve Mason and drummer Thomas Mogensen. A 1998 demo secured a deal with the established German Heavy Metal haven Noise Records although IRON FIRE had undergone a radical line-up overhaul. The debut 'Thunderstorm' record found Steene in alliance with rhythm guitarist Kristian Iversen, bassist Jakob Lykkebo and drummer Gunnar Olsen.

Turbulent times witnessed the exit of Iversen in May 2000 and Olsen in the July of the same year. By the time of the Tommy Hansen produced sophomore outing 'On The Edge' both positions had been filled by PUSH's Martin Slott and COITUS INTERRUPTUS, PUSH and SATURNUS man Morten Plenge respectively. This line-up debuted at the Swedish Motola Metal Festival in November 2000.

However, Plenge was forced to bow out after recording having suffering a damaged arm. At first Lars Oestergard took the drum stool before Tommy Olsen of PANGEA stepped in. By August of 2001 Olsen too had decamped. Early 2002 witnessed the exit of bassist Jakob Lykkebo. Nevertheless the band recorded a full album length demo entitled 'The Underworld' in order to procure a new record deal. Ex-CORPUS MORTALE guitarist Søren Jensen would be welcomed into the ranks during July.

In 2003 Martin Steene was revealed to be fronting up an all star band project dubbed FORCE OF EVIL in league with the MERCYFUL FATE guitar pairing of Michael Denner and Hank Shermann, KING DIAMOND bass player Hal Patino and MERCYFUL FATE drummer Bjarne T. Holm. IRON FIRE severed ties with guitarist Søren Jensen in April, pulling in Jeff Lukka as replacement.

A shock was in store for fans during September as IRON FIRE folded due to what their website described as "overwhelming musical differences". As guitarist Jeff Lukka, bassist Jose Cruz and drummer Steve Mason all bailed out the remaining pairing of vocalist Martin Steene and guitarist Mads Korre Andersen rapidly assembled a temporary line-up in order to fulfil contractual live obligations. This new look act incorporated former IRON FIRE man Martin Slott, Bent of URBAN COWBOYS on bass and SONS OF TOMORROW, FEEBLE LIES and BLACK SUCCUBI drummer Jens Birglid

Martin Steene would guest session on the 2003 EP 'Unleash The Storm' from Black Metal band GRANHAMMER, the side band of another IRON FIRE man Søren 'Azazel' Jensen. The latter also fronts up the brutal Death Metal band KOBEAST in collaboration with scene veterans guitarist/bassist Michael Kopietz of FROZEN SUN, PANZERCHRIST and 12 GAUGE repute and drummer Reno Kiilerich, of FROZEN SUN, PANZERCHRIST, 12 GAUGE, VILE and EXMORTEM.

Early 2004 signalled the arrivial of BLINDED BY FEAR, a group comprising the erstwhile IRON FIRE quartet of guitarist Jose Cruz, second guitar player Jeff Luka, bassist Jakob Lundgaard Lykkebo and drummer Steve Mason alongside former MORFEUS singer Niels Toft. Mason joined the reformed British Thrash Metal act ATOMKRAFT for gigging in 2005. IRON FIRE had regrouped by February, drafting new bassist Martin Lund, previously with MAGIC and MORBID VISION.

The band announced they had signed to Austrian label Napalm Records in January 2006 for a Tommy Hansen produced album 'Revenge'. The band embarked upon European headline touring in April 2006 bolstered by DEMON from the UK, AXTRA of Italy and SEVEN WITCHES from the USA. IRON FIRE engaged in new album recordings in September.
