Biography
The 2003 Copenhagen formation FORCE OF EVIL boasts strong MERCYFUL FATE connections hosting as it does guitarists Michael Denner and Hank Shermann as well as drummer Bjarne T. Holm. Bassist Hal Patino has a similar lineage, being part of the KING DIAMOND rhythm section and also holds prior credentials with PALLADION, MALTESE FALCON, BLAKK TOTEM and GEISHA. FORCE OF EVIL is fronted by IRON FIRE's Martin Steene, who would also guest session on the 2003 EP 'Unleash The Storm' from Black Metal band GRANHAMMER.
FORCE OF EVIL's first prominent gigs came as support to TROUBLE and CANDLEMASS in Stockholm in November, this event filmed for a DVD, and guesting with VIRGIN STEELE in Greece during February of 2004. Signing to the Escapi label the band debuted on the DVD front with 'Evil Comes... Alive'. Recording for a sophomore album entitled 'Black Empire' would see the group entering Jailhouse studio in Horsens, Denmark in September with producer Tommy Hansen. Esteemed producer Neil Kernon handled the final mix. The record would involve a collection of songs themed around classic works of horror in print and film such as 'The Amityville Horror', 'The Omen', 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', 'Friday The 13th', 'Candyman' and 'Maniac Cop'.
In late 2004 Bjarne T. Holm sessioned on the 'Move On' album by British AOR act HEARTLAND. FORCE OF EVIL's second album, entitled 'Black Empire', arrived in March 2005. A promotional video for the song 'Back To Hell' was directed by Swedish director Magnus Gothlund. The following year Hank Shermann prepared a solo album whilst Martin Steene released the IRONFIRE album 'Revenge' and founded a new band called NIGHTLIGHT.
FORCE OF EVIL parted ways with Escapi Music in January 2007.
