Copenhagen Heavy Metal act FORCE MAJEURE debuted with a three song 1988 demo tape. At this stage the band comprised singer Per Onink, guitar player Jesper Schmidt, bassist Peter Thorslund and Morten Nielsen on drums. The group added second guitarist Tonni Rahm for a 1989 follow up. FORCE MAJEURE laid down a third demo in December 1990 entitled 'The Fortress'. By this stage the group had shifted shape considerably, now numbering vocalist Dennis Petersen, guitarists Tommy Skriver and Jesper Schmidt, bassist Bo Lund and drummer Morten Nielsen.

Drummer Morten Nielsen boasts a tradition with ARTILLERY, RED WARSZAWA, ZOSER MEZ and MERCYFUL FATE. Guitarist Tommy Skriver was previously with CRYSTAL KNIGHT whilst the band also employed the APOCALYPSE and FURIOUS TRAUMA credited Jesper Schmidt on guitar.

Band members later joined acts such as SUITE 16 and PRIME TIME.
