Biography

BEYOND TWILIGHT's 2001 conceptual extravaganza, the Tommy Hansen produced 'The Devil's Hall Of Fame', a tale of hacking into the human brain, was conceived by TWILIGHT keyboard player Finn Zierler. Vocals came courtesy of the masterful and much in demand JORN LANDE of MILLENNIUM, ARK, MUNDANUS IMPERIUM and latterly MASTERPLAN and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN fame. BEYOND TWILGHT's debut had come earlier in 1999 with the demo session 'Lurking Fantasia'.

Zierler and drummer Tomas Fredén, also holding DESTINY credentials, had previously operated under the banner of simply TWILIGHT, issuing a 1994 album 'Eye For An Eye'. During early 2004 keyboard player Finn Zierler would session on studio work for MANTICORA. Zieler would also act as live keyboard player for the reformed FATE. Although the group revealed they were set to work with SYMPHONY X frontman Russell Allen on a new record, by September they announced these plans came to naught, tellingly stating "the band has found it hard to work with Russell and have cancelled their plans with him as new vocalist." Meantime, BEYOND TWILIGHT added INVOCATOR mainman Jacob Hansen as the band's second guitarist.

BEYOND TWILIGHT finally secured their new singer, drafting Texan Kelly Sundown Carpenter from Progressive Metal band OUTWORLD. The album, 'System X', was duly recorded in October for March 2005 issue through Nightmare Records. Unfortunately, upon release, a bitter war of words erupted between Zierler and former singer JORN LANDE, the latter claiming many of his vocal melodies and lyrics had been used without permission.

The band parted ways with Kelly Sundown Carpenter in December in rather acrimonious circumstances. Within days of this statement BEYOND TWILIGHT recruited TEARS OF ANGER vocalist Björn Jansson to their ranks, a veteran figure also holding credits with IMAGINERY, ERIKA, TWO ROCKS and SNAKES IN PARADISE. A new record, 'For The Love Of Art And The Making', arrived in April 2006. Later that year Jansson joined up with former HELLOWEEN and MASTERPLAN drummer Uli Kusch and his guitarist brother BENNY JANSSON to forge RIDE THE SKY.
