Biography

Ballerup based Heavy Metal act. Vocalist Charlie and guitarist Martin Peterson had previously both featured in the outfit DEADLINE, but formed MALTESE FALCON in June 1983, with the group originally conceived as a Black Metal band. In fact the group's first four track demo merited comparisons to VENOM and MERCYFUL FATE by magazines at the time.

MALTESE FALCON, formed with guitarist Carsten Smith, bassist Hal Patino, previously of PALLADION, and drummer Stig Nielsen, soon changed direction to a more straightforward Metal approach with a second demo featuring 'Headbanger', 'The Rebellion', 'Back With The Rock', 'Back In The Circle' and 'Stonehenge'. The band promptly signed to Roadrunner who released the debut 'Metal Rush' album, produced by Henrik Lund, in 1984. The same year the band gained valuable supports to GARY MOORE and MANOWAR.

Ex-DARK MISSION drummer Flemming Kenneth replaced Nielson in 1985. A second album's worth of material was then laid down but never saw the light of day. Three songs from these sessions were distributed as a demo in an attempt to gain a further deal. MALTESE FALCON's parting shot was a 1985 five song demo.

Charlie joined RELEASE. Hasse 'Hal' Patino featured in BLAKK TOTEM, GEISHA, FORCE OF EVIL and KING DIAMOND. Guitarist Carsten Schmidt went on to join WOUNDED then, in September 2000, ACT OF FATE.
