Biography

Born in Birmingham, England, SASS JORDAN emigrated to Montreal, Canada. As an individualistic Rock artist Jordan broke into the Canadian charts, reaping both critical acclaim as well as a clutch of Juno and Billboard awards. Despite a quite huge impact generated by her 1994 'Rats' album Jordan bowed out of the public eye for a number of years. The lady was also spotlighted when it was learned that she had auditioned for VAN HALEN. Jordan was offered the position with the US Rock institution after three weeks of jamming but declined the offer.

SASS JORDAN's musical dues were paid with the Montreal teen acts SWEET THUNDER and THE PIN UPS. After a decade on the club circuit her debut album 'Tell Somebody', although a low budget release, did mark her out and reaped a Juno award for 'Most Promising Female Artist' and prompted a North American deal for her next album with the Impact label.

STEVIE SALAS featured as guitarist on SASS JORDAN's sophomore 1992 Rick Neigher produced 'Racine' album. In her homeland the single 'Ugly', documenting her break up with a former heroin addicted boyfriend, scored major radio impact. Although not a massive seller the record did earn her a Billboard acknowledgement as 'Best Female Rock Vocalist'. Touring had Jordan on the road in the USA packaged with ARC ANGELS and JOE COCKER, the latter acting as a catalyst for a Jordan rendition of his 'Trust In Me' track. Included on the movie soundtrack for 'My Bodyguard' the song pulled in yet more fans and radio awareness. Quite remarkably though accusations started flying from the BLACK CROWES, the US band claiming Jordan had not only stolen their music but also their wardrobe! Jordan laughed off the surreal claims, which dutifully backfired on the instigators.

The singer broke onto the international market with the 1994 'Rats' album, fuelled in North America by the radio hit 'Sun's Gonna Rise'. Recorded in Los Angeles 'Rats' found Salas featured once again as did drummer Brian Tichy and guitarist RICHIE KOTZEN. Bass came from the esteemed figures of Carmine Rojas.and CHEAP TRICK's Tom Petersson. Even GEORGE CLINTON and Rei Atsumi of Japanese band VOW WOW got in on the action with keyboards. Live action in North America saw Jordan opening for artists such as BRYAN ADAMS and AEROSMITH.

The 1997 album 'Present', recorded back home in Canada whilst Jordan was pregnant, toned down the angst value of previous releases. An album was demoed up in 1998 but rejected by her label for being too Rock. Jordan responded by delivering the Pop orientated 'Hot Gossip'. 2001 found Jordan not only touring with her musical band but also in the cast of the acclaimed 'Vagina Monologues' theatre production. Latterly the artist underwent a name change, dropping one 'S' out of her title to become SAS JORDAN.
